Case Study – Teledyne

We were approached by our client to re-design a health and engine monitoring unit used in international commercial helicopter applications that had been originally designed by another group and failed QUAL testing. As a result, our client was severely behind schedule on the delivery of the system to their customer and had no in house resources to devote to the project.

On an emergency basis, we made temporary fixes to the thermal management and EMI shielding that allowed our client to pass the required QUAL testing and begin short term production. We then leveraged our fixes into an updated product that included a new housing, new thermal management, improved EMI shielding and additional electronic circuitry on two PC modules.

In addition, our design satisfied the client’s need to reduce manufacturing costs and significantly reduce the assembly labor component. The result was an improved product with substantially less recurring and labor costs, and allowed our client to satisfy their production commitments and maintain their relationship with their client.
