Here’s a sample commercial Avionics display design. We re-designed a health and engine monitoring unit used in international commercial helicopter applications that had been originally designed by another group and failed QUAL testing. As a result, our client was severely behind schedule on the delivery of the system to their customer. On an emergency basis, we made temporary fixes to the thermal management and EMI shielding thatallowed our client to pass QUAL and begin production. We then leveraged the fixes into an updated product (shown) that included additional PCBs and electronic components. We designed the revised product to satisfy the client’s need to reduce manufacturing costs and significantly reduce the assembly labor component. The result was an improved product with substantially less recurring and labor costs, and one that allowed the client to satisfy their production commitments and maintain their relationship with their client.
